Typefi Cloud launched at Information Online, London

Typefi^® Systems’ leading InDesign-based publishing software is now available as a cloud service

Typefi^® Cloud brings all the advantages of Typefi^® Publish to a wider range of publishers. Small publishers to large enterprises will benefit from this hosted solution.

Typefi Publish is the world’s leading automated composition software and is widely used by a range of publishers and organisations worldwide. Typefi^® NLM, built on Typefi Publish, is used by scientific, medical and technical (STM) publishers for journal and book publishing. Both Typefi Publish and Typefi NLM are available on the new Typefi Cloud service.

Publishers focus on publishing, Typefi provides the infrastructure

Typefi Cloud lets publishers manage their publications while Typefi looks after the infrastructure. Typefi hosts the server running the Typefi Publish Engine, while users develop publication content and designs on their desktops using everyday programs like Microsoft^® Word and Adobe^® InDesign. User files are stored and backed up on the server, and available for users to download for editing, preview and delivery. The files and publishing process are accessed via a web browser interface.

Multi-format publishing to print and ebooks included as standard

Typefi Cloud enables users to publish in as many different formats and versions as needed, from a single content source. Standard formats supported are print PDF (for offset, digital and print-on-demand), web PDF, and ePub (the format used by ebook apps offered by Apple iBooks, Barnes and Noble Nook, Google eBooks and Sony, and which is easily converted to mobi format for Amazon Kindle). Other formats are available as optional customisations.

Three levels of service offered

Not all service needs are the same so Typefi Cloud offers different levels according to the number of users – from 1 user to unlimited users – as well as by the number of different publishing projects needed. The three levels are:

• Bronze: for up to 5 users and one project on a shared server
• Bronze Plus: same as Bronze but with additional modules included for STM publishers, such as maths and tables (similar to Typefi NLM)
• Gold: unlimited users and unlimited projects on a dedicated server

The three levels are offered as a monthly subscription service, allowing customers to manage their cash flow.
