Typefi Announces Version 2.7 of the Typefi Publishing System

World leader in the dynamic enterprise publishing market releases faster, easier to use version of their XML-based automated publishing solution.

San Jose, CA. – March 9, 2006 – Typefi Systems Inc. has announced the release of version 2.7 of its revolutionary flagship product, the Typefi Publishing System. Version 2.7 comes in two flavors: Typefi Print for centralized XML-based document production, and Typefi Publish for workgroup collaboration around complex document and book production. The patented Typefi automated scriptless composition engine does away with manual page layout, and automates the publishing of a wide array of document types without the need for expensive template coding.

“Customers are seeing a very high return on their investment with our publishing software,” said Steve Huff, CEO of Typefi. “This release offers even more value for the money with fantastic performance and feature improvements. There is simply no better way at present for publishing, marketing and production departments to streamline their processes and lower costs.”

Typefi Print allows companies to centralize the creation of brand and regulatory compliant documents, while allowing any employee to create professionally designed and personalized materials on-demand. Knowledge workers no longer waste time on document formatting. Anybody with Microsoft Word can now harness the power of Adobe InDesign to create professionally produced documents that are ready for final distribution. The Typefi Publishing System automates the page layout and application of fonts, colors, inline images, illustrations, and other richly formatted elements such as sidebars and floating elements. Behind the scenes, Microsoft Word text is converted to XML, and pushed through Adobe InDesign templates to immediately produce ready-to-distribute PDF documents. Typefi Print offers a positive ROI in the first year due to dramatically lower costs associated with graphic design and formatting. Typefi Print does away with the need for graphic designers or ad agencies to create and update marketing and product launch materials.

Typefi Publish automates the creation and production of complex documents and books. Revision cycles are reduced thanks to a web-based interface which allows authors, designers and editors to work collaboratively on projects. All content and design elements are stored in an XML-based repository that allows for easy republishing and repurposing of content. Typefi Publish allows for full roundtrip editing between source documents, XML content, and finished InDesign templates, ensuring complete revision control. Typefi Publish offers a fast ROI thanks to efficient automated page layout, cost savings versus expensive scripted templates, reduced revision cycles, and increased throughput - up to 15,000 richly formatted pages per hour.

“This release features improvements in all areas of performance, usability and layout capability, including support for much larger workgroups, and integration with many other content management and digital asset management systems,” said Stephen O’Brien, CTO of Typefi. “The layout engine, still the smartest automated page layout technology available today, has gotten smarter with support for floating elements. This makes it easy for any designer with just a half-day’s training to automate very complex layouts at the touch of a button.”
